II. Breaking down SEO: The Keystone of Your Marketing Strategy

Incorporating Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices is necessary to bringing your business to the top of any search engine results page. Search engines (in this case, we'll consider Google) have a single goal to achieve: present the website that has the best chance of successfully answering someone's search query on the first try. Let's get started with an example of searching for a new local dentist. A likely search term you might use when searching for a new dental practice is "dentist near me".

As soon as you click enter, Google scours its library of websites that are relevant to the search and presents to you: (1) Paid Google Ads at the very top, (2) A "map pack", which may or may not show up depending on the search, and (3) Google's top-ranked results.

III. How does google decide which websites to show first?

In this dentist example, you're likely to click that first result (Awbrey Dental Group) because it is conveniently located at the top. If you enter that website and are spending a lot of time exploring their content and ultimately signing up for your first appointment using an online form, Google has succeeded in its results. Google wants to find and present websites that will most likely succeed in answering your query.

To get your website to the top of Google's results and a place on Google's Map Pack, you have to convince Google that it can trust your website to satisfy a user's query. While there are many ways to establish that trust, we'll consider two broad categories for simplicity: (1) On-site strategies and (2) Off-site strategies.

As you can see, there are many factors that contribute to SEO, which is where the marketing experts from Charter Connect come into play. While paid Google Ads are one way to get Google to present your website at the top of a search, incorporating SEO best practices into your digital marketing strategy can organically bring your website to the top without the need for pay-per-click ads, which will save you money in the long run!

While you're working hard running a charter school, Charter Connect will be implementing SEO best practices behind-the-scenes so that your school can make its way to the top of Google's search results.
